چکیده

Background: Candida albicans, accounts for more than 75% of all Candidal infections. Apart from its growing prevalence, it is also one the most resistant strains against antifungal medication. Homoeopathy an alternative to allopathic medication and has shown inhibiting fungal growth. Objective: This study was determine effectiveness homoeopathic tinctures medications versus Ketoconazole in growth inhibition fungicidal properties vitro cultures C. albicans. Materials Methods: Efficacy five agents were tested their on cultured albicans Eucalyptus globulus Ocimum basilicum essential oil form, Benzoicum Acidum 30C Kali Iodatum tablet compared with effect 100 mg powder form. Results: In trial, O. had largest zone followed by E. following. The ketoconazole group showed similar rates 30C, Ketoconazole. present data suggests that no individual agent effective only causing a minimal reduction surface colony. Conclusion: Results indicate oils inhibition. However, both treatment limited properties. concludes alternatives can be preventing infections but may less fully developed infection.

Effect of ketoconazole on the fungicidal action of amphotericin B in Candida albicans.

Amphotericin B-susceptible Candida albicans became resistant to the drug after growth in the presence of ketoconazole. Chromatographic analysis of cellular sterols showed that the organisms became depleted of ergosterol in parallel with the development of amphotericin B resistance. The implications of these findings are discussed in relation to combination chemotherapy with these two important ...

Entry of ketoconazole into Candida albicans.

To define characteristics that determine the entry of ketoconazole (KTZ) into Candida albicans cells, we studied the uptake of [3H]KTZ. The cells rapidly and markedly concentrated the drug: 30% of the final 80-fold intracellular concentration was attained in less than 1 min, and greater than 60% was attained in 10 min. Penetration of [3H]KTZ at an extracellular concentration higher than 0.1875 ...

Broth dilution testing of Candida albicans susceptibility to ketoconazole.

We performed a detailed investigation of the kinetics of ketoconazole activity in the setting of broth dilution testing of Candida albicans susceptibility. Turbidimetric readings reflected parallel quantitative colony counts. The method of endpoint determination markedly affected the results. Determinations of 50% inhibitory concentrations clearly separated the ketoconazole-resistant strains fr...

Susceptibility of Candida albicans isolates to Terbinafine and Ketoconazole

The prevalence of drug resistance has become an important issue in various yeast infections, which have a significant effects on both human animal health. In this study, an attempt has been made to determine susceptibility pattern of two antifungal agents Terbinafine and Ketoconazole against 45 oral and non oral Candida albicans isolates using broth microdilution method. Under in vitro conditio...

Mechanism-based pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic models of in vitro fungistatic and fungicidal effects against Candida albicans.

Mechanism-based pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) models describing the fungistatic activity of fluconazole and the fungicidal activity of caspofungin were developed using dynamic in vitro models. Antifungal-drug pharmacokinetics was simulated in vitro, assuming a one-compartment model with an elimination half-life of 3 h and using a wide (1 to 10,000) range of initial concentrations. The...
